Balancing the dark feminine with the light.

She is the goddess of both descent and return... spring’s first bloom and winter’s deepest stillness. Queen of the underworld and the embodiment of sacred duality.

Her myth is often told as one of captivity, but it is also said that she secretly desired her destiny with Hades... I prefer this story...

Persephone teaches us something profound... the power of choosing our own becoming, even when it defies expectation.

As the maiden of spring, she brings life and renewal. As queen of the underworld, she walks comfortably with death, shadow, and transformation. She teaches us that renewal requires descent, and that we can honor the light and the dark within us, unapologetically.

Persephone whispers:

🌸 You are allowed to evolve.

🌒 You don’t have to fit the mold others place upon you.

🖤 You can honor your softness and your strength, your joy and your grief, and still be whole.

In this painting, she’s crowned in narcissus, with poppies blooming around her, caught in that quiet, intimate moment of tasting the pomegranate... knowing that once she does... everything changes... Binding her to the underworld.

This painting is a love letter to the part of you that blooms after the fall. The part that says yes to change, even when the world doesn’t understand.

She reminds us we're allowed to evolve, to embody opposing energies, and own our truth. She teaches us to honor our seasons and to stop shrinking ourselves to fit anyone else’s idea of who we should be.

Have you ever felt like you had to reclaim a part of yourself that others didn’t understand? I’d love to hear if Persephone’s story resonates with you.
